Family of nine in wreck on I-95

Posted

A single-vehicle, high-speed wreck occurred at the 59-mile marker southbound Sunday morning Jan. 3 at 7:26 a.m.
A Chevrolet Tahoe holding a family of nine left the roadway and entered the wood line, striking several trees. Two family members received injuries, one with a head injury.
A medical helicopter was requested but had a long estimated arrival time due to an earlier wreck, so a Colleton Fire-Rescue ambulance transported the patient to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital.
One other occupant was transported to Colleton Medical Center.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
