In Job 25:3, Bildad asks, “How can a human be justified before God?” The answer is simple and was demonstrated by Job. It is called FAITH. In Romans 5:1, Paul writes, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Our justification comes through our faith, both being given by God. In Habakkuk 2:4, God says, “…the righteous will live by faith. In the New Testament, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:22, and Hebrews 10:38, we are reminded that it is through faith that the righteous have life. We cannot become righteous or justified by our actions or abstentions. We are made righteous and justified by God through our faith in the Lord Jesus. Job, like Abraham, trusted God and he verbalized it in Job 27:1-4. Though he felt as if God was not treating Him fairly, he would not speak against God or deny Him. Through all his suffering and pain, with no end in sight and no answers as to why, Job stilled trusted and obeyed God. That is why, in the end, God justified Job.
We all should live with that kind of faith! During the Old Testament days, people like Job only knew Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They could only look forward to what was promised (Hebrews 11:13). What was promised came to fruition in Bethlehem when the time was right and God sent His Son, Jesus (Galatians 4:4). At the death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, He became the One Who justifies us because of our faith. We cannot earn it! We do not deserve it! We can only humbly confess our sinfulness and trust the Lord Jesus alone to be our Lord and Savior. With that confession and submission, God pronounces us righteous. Not perfect or sinless, but forgiven, born again as a child of God by faith. Have you surrendered to Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
