The Young Authors Literary School Workshop, launched by Community Innovations (CI), is designed to empower young writers by enhancing their self-esteem and literacy skills, with the aim of helping them become published authors. Ten young authors from Colleton County Middle School were selected to be published in an anthology at no cost, based on their imaginative stories and adherence to the workshop’s criteria.
This initiative was made possible by the dedication and support of Teacher David Toapanta, known as Mr. T. and Colleton County Middle School Liasion Laura Reasonover. Their hard work, along with the leadership of Principal Eddie Peeples and Superintendent Jessica Williams, was crucial in the program’s success. Presenters Nadine Johnson and Shiela Keaise, who also served as the graphic designer, illustrator, and publisher, contributed significantly to brining this project to fruition. A book signing or booktalk is being planned for January 2026.
