Installation of Automated Water Meters
As has been shared previously, the town has contracted Fortiline Waterworks to complete the installation and implementation of the automated metering infrastructure (AMI). This process is expected to continue for several months.
Currently, meter boxes are being removed, and new meters are being installed. As well, the Town is undergoing utilities data conversion for the new program, and arrangements are being finalized to train Town staff on the software program that accompanies this new automated system.
The town received $1 million in state legislative funding through South Carolina’s State Earmark Program to fund this project.
Starfish Awards
Leslie Varner Hurley was recognized for her many years of service to the ATAX Board from August 2016 through August 2025, including her service as chair. Town Council thanked Leslie for her invaluable contributes in ensuring ATAX revenue was utilized effectively.
Tyler Von Neida could not be present at the Council meeting to accept the Starfish Award, but Mayor Moore thanked Tyler for his service on the ATAX Board from August 2016 through August 2025, and for contributing his knowledge of the tourism sector over his three terms.
