Do You Want to Live?

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5

What condition did Jesus find you in? As for me, I was dead in my sins. I was beyond hope. I was unable to help myself. The only thing within my power as a sinner was to continue being dead. When Jesus found me there was nothing lovable or appealing about me. I reeked of my rebellion against God. In truth, we all did.

“But because of his great love for us, God” had compassion for us and showed mercy toward us when we did not deserve it. It is the love of God that sent Jesus to the cross and the good news that Jesus save sinners to our ears. God’s love softened our hard hearts and gave us the conviction to repent and the faith to believe in Jesus. It is because of the great love of God that any are saved.

It is that amazing love of God that made dead sinners alive in Christ. Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves. Salvation is an act of God’s mercy because we are saved from the death we deserve and are given new life in Christ. Salvation is also an act of God’s grace because we could never save ourselves. We could never be good enough to be saved, but we are saved through Christ’s righteousness given to us. God loves you and wants to make you alive in Christ! Would you repent of your sins and believe in Jesus today? Do you want to live?
