Colleton Prep Defeats Beaufort Academy

Colleton Prep and Beaufort Academy squared off against each other hoping to improve their standings in the region and securing a first round home playoff game. The War Hawks accomplished both these goals with a convincing 28-9 victory over Beaufort Academy.

The first half was a defensive battle as the only score was a field goal by Beaufort on the last play of the first half to take a 3-0 lead.

The second half saw the War Hawk offense come to life as they would score 28 unanswered points to put the game away. The War Hawks would drive the length of the field to begin the third quarter to take a 7-3 lead. Colleton Prep was able to continue rushing the ball on the next drive and scored on the third play of the fourth quarter to take a 14-3 lead.

On the next Eagle possession, Walker Bryan would come up with a big interception and return the ball deep in Eagle territory. The War Hawks would punch the ball in the end zone a few plays later to take a 21-3 lead.

Beaufort would drive the ball on their next possession to the War Hawk one yard line where the Hawks would take over on downs. CPA would drive the ball the length of the field behind the rushing of Cole and Caleb Davis to score the final touchdown of the night for a 28-3 lead. Beaufort would add a touchdown on the final play of the game to make the final score 28-9.

The Hawks were led offensively by Cole Davis with 197 yards rushing on 15 carries and four touchdowns while Caleb Davis had 109 yards rushing on 22 carries.

Defensively, Walker Bryan had 8 tackles and an interception while Cayson Warner had 6 tackles and Drew Rushton had 7 tackles.

The War Hawks will play their final game of the year as they take on Palmetto Christian Academy Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.
