The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Deputy William Hiers has been awarded the prestigious Life-Saving Award for his heroic actions that saved the life of a young 9-year-old girl.
On September 15, 2024, Deputy Hiers responded to a critical incident on Buffalo Lane where a young girl had suffered gunshot wounds. Acting swiftly and decisively, Deputy Hiers provided life-saving care on the scene, ensuring the victim received the immediate attention she needed. Undoubtedly, his courage, training, and composure in this moment were instrumental in saving her life.
We are incredibly proud of Deputy Hiers and his selfless dedication to serving and protecting our community, his actions on that day exemplify the very best of what it means to be in law enforcement.
