Christmas is Believing in Jesus

12Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

John 1:12-13

There comes a time when you have to make a decision about who you believe Jesus to be. Jesus asked His own disciples, “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15). Jesus is not interested in your preferences of who you imagine Jesus to be. Jesus wants to know if you have decided to accept who He is as presented by the Bible.

Christmas was meant to be more than traditions that bring back feelings of nostalgia. Christmas without the Christ is revelry without a reason. Our traditions focus on gifts without recognizing God’s Gift to all sinners. Our children deserve more than songs about reindeer and snowmen. Your children need you to lead them to Jesus.

Millions of people will celebrate the holiday without giving Jesus any meaningful attention. For a lot of people, the passing of the festivities will leave them feeling more empty than they felt before. This Scripture tells us that “to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name” Jesus made them children of God.

Jesus can heal the separation between God and us, making us a beloved part of God’s family. Wouldn’t you like that this Christmas? Does the distance between you and God disturb you? Let Jesus forgive you of your sins and become your Lord and God. Worship Jesus this Christmas. Attend church this Sunday. Speak with a pastor. Ask him about salvation. Surrender to the One who loves you more than anyone else. Have a Merry Christmas!
