The Colleton County High School girls softball team continues to roll, winning three games last week.

In the first game the Cougars defeated Lucy Beckman High School Jaguars,18-2. Their second victory was a hard fought 8-5 battle against Timberland. Then it was back to Lucy Beckman, in which they clobbered their opponent, 16-4.

In the first matchup against Lucy Beckman, Bailey Cox pitched five strong innings, struck out five, and gave up only three hits. When the Cougars were at bat, Makayla Chisolm and Jordan Slocum each collected three hits to pace the Cougars; Maggie Kennedy hammered out two hits. Chisolm drove in three RBIs, with Christasia Holmes and Slocum contributing two apiece.

The Cougars were three rounds when they rallied to claim the 8-5 victory against Timberland High School. It would be the second win in a week for Cox, who pitched six innings, striking out three enroute to the win.

At bat, Brown led the Cougars with two hits.

In the return game against Beckman, the game was halted after four innings, but not before the Cougars had scored 16 runs against their opponents’ four. Twelve of those runs came in the first three innings.

Mackenzie Pullum paced the team with three hits, while Shandi Brown and Chisolm stroked two hits each. Cox drove in four runs with an inside-the-park grand slam homerun. Brown added three additional RBIs.

On the mound, Lanasia Sanders pitched the entire four innings.

The Cougars are now 11-1 overall.
