The CCHS baseball team had a rough weekend, dropping all three games played.

The first matchup, at James Island High School, went to the Trojans, 9-0.

The second game, played at Cougar Field, saw the Cougars play better, but a late rally would not be enough.

The game began with the Trojans scoring four runs in the first inning, placing the Cougars into catchup mode early. However, the Cougars scored a run in the third and fourth innings to close the gap, 4-2.

James Island scored in the fifth, while the Cougars scored to the same inning, to pull within a run, 5-4.

The Trojans put the game on ice scoring three runs in the seventh, then holding off a Cougar rally to win, 8-6.

While the Cougars outhit the Trojans, 9-8, they committed three errors.

Standouts for the Cougars were Michael Ortiz and Chris Farnsworth. Each had three hits and drove in two runs. De’Veon Varner pitched five innings for the Cougars.

The third loss came at the hands of Benedictine High School, from Savannah, Ga. Not only were the Cougars outhit, 10-5, they lost, 4-1.
