Billy Humphries and Sandy White, owners of B&S Handyman Services, pride themselves on being reliable, trustworthy providers of various aspects of home improvement and repair for residents of Colleton County and the surrounding area.
You don’t have to take their word for it, though.
Their commitment to excellent customer service and quality work has led to the accumulation of a very loyal customer base, and it shows. B&S has been voted as Best Handyman Service in The Press and Standard’s Readers’ Choice Awards for three out of the four years it has been in business.
Billy, who has over thirty years of experience, began his journey by roofing and framing houses for others’ businesses until he was around 27 years old. He then operated his own painting business for about 10 years before becoming a maintenance contractor at Laurel Bay and Parris Island. Billy spent another 10 years there, overseeing and facilitating the upkeep of over 1400 homes for Marines and their families.
After his time at the base, Billy recognized the need for dependable handymen in the Colleton County area and B&S Handyman Services came to fruition. Today, he utilizes the skills he polished in his former careers to help area homeowners keep their homes safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing.
B&S offers a wide range of services for its customers, including (but not limited to) remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, plumbing, replacing floors, various carpentry projects, painting, and even some electrical work.
“We can do pretty much anything that’s thrown at us,” said Sandy, “And if we can’t, we will find someone who can.” Active members of the local BNI chapter, Billy and Sandy are able to utilize their network to find suitable contractors for projects that are beyond their own scope of work.
The business offers free estimates to prospective customers wherein Billy discusses what the homeowner’s end goal is, identifies other potential problem areas if needed (along with an order of priority if multiple projects must be completed), and comes up with a plan of action that will fit the individual’s budget. Given his years of experience, he’s able to present an accurate estimate before the work ever starts so customers aren’t taken aback by the total presented on their final invoice.
A large portion of the B&S customer base is made up of older clients, of which Sandy explained, “We have a lot of elderly clients who have so much that needs to be done around their house because nobody has been able to help them in so long, and they’re on a budget. So we’ll sit down with them and find out what they want and need to get done, then help them decide what they can do this month, and what can wait until next month.”
No matter what age group the customer falls into, Billy and Sandy are dedicated to serving them in the best way possible. “We try to treat our customers the way we would want to be treated ourselves,” Sandy said emphatically. “We try to have a fair price and give them quality work.”
Active in the community beyond their work as B&S Handyman Services, Billy and Sandy are also enthusiastic members of the Ace Basin ABATE and enjoy being part of events like the group’s annual Christmas toy run.
