AgSouth Celebrates Grand Opening

AgSouth hosted their Grand Reopening of their new building on Thursday, March 12th. The new building is located on the site of the original 60-year-old building at 529 Bells Highway in Walterboro. The celebration began with a welcome from Walterboro Relationship Manager Ricky Varnadoe who said, “Reopening this branch is a proud moment for our team and our community. This new facility represents our continued dedication to supporting farmers, rural landowners, and families throughout the Lowcountry. We’re thrilled to return home and continue serving our members with the same personal service they’ve always known.”

Chad Puryear, President and CEO AG-South Farm Credit, attended the event and said, “We’ve been in this area for decades and decades and its very important to for us to support local agriculture which is a big part of the South Carolina economy. We want to be here to support the credit needs. of our farmers. We appreciate the partnership with the local community. The town’s been very friendly and accommodating as we went through a demolition and a rebuild, and we’re just really excited to be in this location.”

Christy Smith, Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing and Communications at AG South, adds “The investment signifies AG South’s commitment to agriculture and its long-term support for farmers. As a cooperative owned by its member-borrowers, AG South returns 70% of its profits to its customers and offers flexible loan structures tailored to farmers’ harvest cycles. AgSouth takes pride in being part of the local agriculture industry and small towns.”

More the fifty people attended the event that included a Ribbon Cutting by the offices staff, AgSouth Dignitaries, and contractors that worked on the building.
