Football season is less than 60 days away with the first day of football practice set to begin on July 28th, two weeks from now. The War Hawks, who are coming off an impressive 11-2 record and a berth in the state championship game, have been participating in summer workouts for several weeks. The workouts are a carry on from spring practice which allowed the coaches to install a lot of the offense and defense that the Hawks will run this season. The War Hawks will return six starters on offense and nine on defense. The offensive line was hit the hardest as three starters will need to be replaced. Steve Crosby is back on the offensive line after missing last season with a knee injury. A total of 38 players participated in spring practice which allowed the coaches to evaluate the players at each position.

Coach Greg Langdale mentioned that sophmore Jack Broderick and Tanner Wolf had an excellent spring practice. “We’ve had a pretty good summer work out so far, not great but good. We were able to have a good spring practice back in May and were able to install a lot of our offensive schemes with the new players along with the players coming up from the middle school. Also, we were able to get a lot of our new defense installed,” said Coach Langdale.

Since spring practice, we have been spending a lot of time in the weight room, 7 on 7 scrimmages, and position camps. We must continue to get bigger, faster, and stronger if you want to keep improving. The boys have done a great job of showing up over the summer to get in their workouts. It’s time to get excited about this year’s team.
