Walterboro Lions Club Hold August Meeting

The Walterboro Lions Club held its monthly meeting at Dukes Bar B Que on Tuesday, August 14th. Ray Colson opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by prayer.

Mike Kuszmaul presented a Certificate of Appreciation from American Legion Post 93 to John Burnes, thanking the Lions Club for their sponsorship which helped send 14 local youth to Boys and Girls State.

Also discussed at the meeting were the upcoming eye screenings that the Lions Club sponsor in the schools. The Lions Clubs Internationally are a world leaders in the effort to prevent avoidable blindness, they are working with local partners to help provide the training, medications, and treatment needed for those with eye diseases and to provide disability rehabilitation and education for all.

The Lions Club sells brooms to support their community efforts, both household and warehouse brooms are available for sale at Hiotts Pharmacy.

The Club is also looking to increase their membership.

The mission of the Lions Club is to empower volunteers, and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding.
