Walterboro honors its fallen heroes

This Memorial Day Walterboro honored its fallen veterans at Waterfall Plaza. The event was sponsored and organized by local organizations Colleton County Veterans Council, Colleton County Council, and the American Legion. The presentation of the colors was done by the NJROTC, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by Boy Scout Troop #646. Invocation and Ben Speakers at the event were the Master of Ceremonies Johnny Holmes, Mayor William Young, Janet D. Smith, and the keynote speaker Robert (Bob) Tiegs. The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful were performed by Brandon Williams. The memorial wreath laying was done by the Colleton County Veterans Council. Also present was the Colleton County Honor Guard who delivered the three round volley and the playing of taps. The reading of the fallen soldiers’ names from World War I to the Global War on Terrorism was also part of the program. With dignity and respect the ceremony honored those from Colleton County who made the ultimate sacrifice.
