USC Salkehatchie congratulates the 2023 Academic Awards winners for their educational accomplishments. These awards provide opportunities to recognize students who meet high standards of academic excellence and those who have given their best efforts, often overcoming obstacles to their learning.
“These students worked diligently throughout the semester to succeed and move forward toward their educational and professional goals. Academic success is certainly important, but when the recipients of these awards are selected, other personal and professional attributes that make a well-rounded student and member of the community are considered,” Dean April Cone said.
This year’s academic award recipients are:
Allendale Study Club Psychology Award: Ariel Avant; GH Kearse English Award: Caleb Shealy; Dr. Shannon Pye Chemistry Award: Alyssa Hanna; Colleton Medical Center Nursing Award: Bryan Crosby; Colleton Museum History Award: William Noah Cook; Scotsman Business Award: Amauni Barker; Palmetto State Bank Math Award: Vigneswaran Madappan Chinnasami; Michael Reno Memorial Computer Science Award: Alyssa Hanna; Walterboro Police Department Criminal Justice Award: Caleb Shealy; OSP Student of the Year: Tre’viana Smalls; Female Athlete of the Year: Tamyra Hunt; and Male Athlete of the Year: Gavin Phillips.
