A misunderstanding resulted in the release of un-redacted body camera footage to Netflix from the murder scene at Moselle, according to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office and the Colleton County Clerk’s office.

The error occurred when the Colleton County Clerk’s office sent the footage to Netflix in a Freedom of Information Act request. Clerk Becky Hill testified in a hearing the un-redacted footage had not been labeled as “sealed”, and the FOIA request was granted. The records will be labeled as “sealed” moving forward. Hill informed the court that a Netflix producer promised the body camera images would not be used.
