Earlier this month the South Carolina State Senate passed a bill that would allow South Carolina gun owners to carry their firearm publicly without a concealed weapons permit and would also provide firearm instruction free of charge. The free firearms training was what concluded the discussion amongst state senators and led the way to an 28-15 vote for approval. However, the South Carolina House Republican Caucus rejected the Senate amendments and later this month will return a “clean” version of bill to the Senate.
Presently in the State of South Carolina an individual must be a minimum of 18 years of age to purchase a gun and must procure a concealed weapons permit at 21 years of age for public carry or have the gun in open view in a vehicle.
