The Colleton County High School Band of Blue placed 14th at the 2023 SCBDA 4A State Marching Band Championships on Saturday October 28 at Spring Valley High School.   The Band of Blue ended its competition season with an outstanding performance of WONDERFULL!, “The Music of Stevie Wonder”.   The Band of Blue earned a Superior Rating and engaged and on its feet throughout the dynamic performance.

T.L Hanna placed 1st followed by Catawba Ridge, and Nation Ford High Schools.

The show featured several soloist and small ensembles including clarinetist Zoe Buckner, flutist Ally Stephens, senior trumpet Abe Green and a small combo including Aundre James, Delahnie Griffiths, Caroline Herndon, Princeton Brooks and lead guitar and vocalist Dominick Jackson.  Jackson’s singing was really different for the 9 time State Champion Band of Blue.  From Isn’t She Lovely to Finger Tips, Jackson kept the audience engaged and entertained.

Band Director Tom Finigan and his staff of Nick Infinger, Cathy Meshach, Clay Blackwood and Jason Johnson created a show that was very different for South Carolina. They produced a very entertaining performance, took some chances and did something very creative musically and visually. We grew and explored a different style and it was FUN!”   Finigan said, “one of our judges stated, ‘If this was my Senior year show, I would be having the time of my Life!’” Finigan stated, “WONDERFULL was a show our community will never forget and we are ALL proud of it!”

Congratulations to our Band of Blue on a great season.
