At the special board meeting June 1, 2023 the Colleton County
School Board accepted the resignation of Dr. Valerie Cave as
Superintendent of Colleton County schools.
Prior to the Thursday night meeting
Cave was placed on
administrative leave. During this time the school board
“investigated information” that was brought to their attention on
May 18. As of this time, the information brought to the board has
not been released.
Some attendees spoke on behalf of Dr. Cave urging the board members for her reinstatement. A petition was also circulated for Cave’s reinstatement with hundreds of signatures from people in the community.
Assistant Superintendent Jessica Williams will continue in her role as interim superintendent.
