Ramona Stein, branch manager of 1st Federal of South Carolina on Robertson Boulevard, will be retiring sometime at the end of the summer. Stein has served the community at the bank for the last 46 years. Beginning as a teller at the Hampton Street branch she worked her way up from a bank teller to her current position as branch manager. 1st Federal is a small hometown bank that keeps its employees and customers close to provide excellent customer service.

Stein noted that the changes in technology over the years has been the most notable difference in banking from when she started in 1977. Where every banking transaction used to be on paper and relied on the postal service, now people can do banking online with the bank’s app and signatures for transactions can be gained online very quickly.

Stein now wants to travel, enjoy time with her family, and simply to enjoy the next chapter in her life. For “Mona” as she is known to her customers, this is a bittersweet transition because she enjoyed her work and the people who walked into the bank daily.

Stein wants the community to know that she will be leaving the bank in excellent hands with Donna Frazier who will assume the position of bank manager upon her retirement.
