The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church blood drive on May 08 had a small turn out and a large number of deferrals.There were 39 possible donors to come in and only 29 pints of blood was collected.Those that came in were: Linda Huff, Leon Brown, Mary Jo Fox, Fran Mack, Rebecca Foster, Kevin Hart, Mary Howe, Alice Givens, Danny Wade, Arlene Cassedy, Sarah Judy, Barbara Bennett, Anita Givens, Vicki Syfrett, Ricky Crosby, Celeste Stone, Barbara Hawkins, Jeanette Smith, Stephen Young, Mike Kuszmaul, Doris Nettles, Melinda O’Quinn, Brenda Washington, Diane Wicker, Sharon Paris, Donald Kinard, Donald Davis, Mike Hutto, Summer White, Dr. Riddick Ackerman Ill, Susan Bennett, Willie Dobison, P.A. Pournelle, Michael Delonge, Crystal Delonge, Terry Pournelle, Jessica Hunt, Sarah Ferguson, and Norma Weeks ( 24 gallons)
It was an exciting day for Colleton County Blood Drive Coordinator Norma Weeks when American Red Cross Blood Services Representative Mike Gonzalez came to Walterboro and presented her with a cake with the numbers “24” on it for the 24 gallons of blood she has donated. He also gave her a platter with a heart and a cross in the center and “Thank You” around the border, and a Thank You card with a special message written inside. Weeks has been the Colleton County Blood Drive Coordinator for over 16 years.and filled in for former coordinator Judy Gillispie for several years before her death in April 2007.
