The New Year is rapidly approaching and the resolutions are following suit. Commitment renewals to gym memberships, healthy eating, and prioritizing more self-care are just a few of the many ways that people are beginning to work on a fresh start for 2024. But why not make learning a new language part of that ambitious to-do list? Learning a new language can open up countless opportunities from standing out in a job application, communicating effectively while traveling, building deeper connections, and propelling you further in professional research. Whether you are an adult wanting to add abilities to your résumé or a parent who wants your child to develop fluency in a second language, this skill can only broaden your horizons in the best way! At the Colleton County Memorial Library System, we provide Pronunciator, a language learning resource that can jumpstart you on the path to becoming a multilingual superstar by offering 315 languages to choose from! It not only gives a wide array of options, you can also learn at your own pace and even create your own custom courses to fit your individualized needs. You can access the resource on the library website at colletonlibrary.org and use it on-the-go with the app called Bluebird which partners with Pronunciator and is available for free on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. And the best part? You can access this free service plus so much more, and all you need is a Colleton library card! Come visit us at your local Colleton County library in Walterboro, Cottageville, or Edisto Beach where our friendly staff will be happy to assist you in accomplishing your New Year’s resolutions through our multiple free resources and year-round programs.
