Murdaugh public status conference to be held January 16th

The South Carolina Press Association Attorney Jay Bender has announced that there will be a public status conference for the Murdaugh retrial hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 9:30 a.m. The conference will be held at the Richland County Judicial Center the date change is due to the visit of Vice President Kamala Harris on Jan. 15 in Columbia where she will appear for the King Day at the Dome festivities.

Former South Carolina Chief Justice Jean Toal, who replaces Judge Clifton Newman in presiding over Murdaugh murder matters, is working with the Press Association to accommodate the needs of the media to develop an order detailing media coverage.
