Lowcountry Urgent Care helps teachers

The Lowcountry Urgent Care (LUC) clinic on Bells Highway in Walterboro routinely helps patients with medical needs and DOT physicals/exams. Now, the urgent care clinic has started a Teacher Give Back Program.

Every month during the school year, LUC picks one local teacher to be the winner of the “Teacher Giveback Program.” The winner of the Teacher Giveback Program receives a $100 Walmart Gift Card as a ‘Thank You’ for all the hard work and dedication he or she has given students.

This program is designed to alleviate some of the financial stress these teachers are under.

“We understand that teachers often have to go into their own pockets to cover expenses for supplies, equipment, and other tools necessary to teach our youth. This program is our way of showing our appreciation for the work teachers do day in and day out to support our kids,” said LUC officials.

In May 2019, LUC had a record-breaking number of teachers apply.  Officials read all the entries, and could not just pick one winner, so there they chose 28 teachers who needed help with supplies. Each of the teachers who were chosen as a winner was given a $100 Walmart Gift Card. They also hosted a meet and greet with the Teacher Giveback Program winners at the clinic in Walterboro, S.C.

Last year, Covid interrupted the school year, but this year the program is back on and teachers are welcome to apply.
