Two people were injured and one man perished after he was ejected from a vehicle in 1200 block of Jonesville Ave, Saturday afternoon 04-March. At 17:32, 9-1-1 was notified of a single vehicle, high speed accident. The callers advised the car had flipped over and at least one person was ejected from the car. It appeared the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control after rounding a curve. It entered the ditch, suffered heavy damage and was found on the driver’s side. Engine and Medic 13 arrived about three minutes later advising of three patients. Two additional Fire-Rescue Ambulances and a medical helicopter were requested. Crews at the scene determined one unrestrained patient who had been ejected was deceased. A second man suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was semi-conscious. He was treated at the scene, then transported to a nearby field to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. He was transferred to the Flight Crew, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The third patient, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 1. Fire Units remained on the scene for 3-1/2 hours providing lighting for the SC Highway Patrol’s MAIT Team. SCHP is investigating the accident.
