Holiday Market at the Museum

Posted

On Saturday, Dec. 3 the Colleton Museum & Farmers Market hosted its Holiday Market with 23 vendors available for holiday shopping. A steady stream of foot traffic was heavily supported by visitors who were taking the carriage rides.

Anthony Herndon of Brice Herndon Carriage Company is a part of the museum family and the museum had been planning to integrate his new carriage business into public events since midsummer. With the carriage rides, there was a wave of customers through the market every 30 minutes.

The s’mores station was a hit with the kids, despite the fact the weather was relatively warm. Given the amount of positive feedback from the market vendors, food vendors, customers, and the carriage company, the museum is definitely going to plan another Holiday Market next year. One market vendor even remarked how much better business was here compared to some of the bigger markets they were attending.

The director of the museum, Matt Mardell, said that he and the staff really enjoyed it and want to thank everyone who attended and supported, not just this event, but those throughout downtown this weekend. He said that “It’s the community spirit that we’re all looking to see”.
