Curtis Inabinett, Sr. passed away Monday, June 26 at the age of 91. From 1991-1999 Representative Inabinett represented parts of Colleton and Charleston counties. Mr. Inabinett also served terms as mayor of Ravenel from the early 1980’s to the early 1990’s. His son, Dr. Curtis Inabinett, Jr. shared that his father was the first black mayor of Ravenel, and the first black person placed in the Charleston County Election Commission. In his storied career Inabinett, Sr. was a member of Charleston County Council, a teacher, and a principal at a number of Lowcountry schools. Honors that Inabinett received are the Order of the Palmetto, the post office in Ravenel bears his name, and he had dedicated a road in his name, the Curtis B. Inabinett, Sr. Highway.
