Food Lion held a ribbon cutting April 19 to officially celebrate its total remodeling.

According to General Manager Chuck Ash, it was February 2021 when Food Lion moved into the facility on Robertson Boulevard. Renovations began 13 months ago. The store was in serious need of updating.

Everything from floor to ceiling has been replaced.

Many features have been added to the remodel, including a hot food bar, where customers can choose either chicken wings or Asian cuisine.

Another addition is a floral section. Customers can select from a wide array of cut flowers and floral arrangements.

Once all the major work was complete, Food Lion employees did the rest. They made the store visually appealing. Ash said he was pleased by what the store employees accomplished.

“My people have worked really hard,” he said. He added that a private reception would be held to thank them.

As he looked around for what was his final day as the Walterboro store manager --- Ash has been commuting from Lexington, S.C., to oversee this project, Ash said he is happy for Food Lion customers.

“We just really enhanced the shopping experience,” he said.
