Colleton County Fire-Rescue, Edisto Beach Fire Department, and Edisto Beach Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Palmetto Boulevard to respond to the report of a drowning. The victim was pulled from the water by a “Good Samaritan”. Upon arrival units found a nurse administering care to an unresponsive female appearing to be in her mid-20’s. She was ultimately declared deceased. Colleton County Coroner’ office is currently investigating. First responding units began CPR. Colleton County Fire Rescue then arrived on scene and proceeded to administer care to the victim. Despite all efforts to resuscitate the young woman she did not survive. The Colleton County Coroner’s Office was also responded to the scene. The death will be investigated by the Edisto Beach Police Department and the Colleton County Coroner’s Office.
