Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Reports

01/20/23-WALTERBORO: At approximately 10:15 p.m. an officer responded to Folly Creek Lane regarding a stolen vehicle.

01/22/23-YEMASSEE: An officer responded to Ferguson Lane regarding theft.

01/22/23-SMOAKS: An officer responded to Augusta Highway regarding a storage trailer being broken into and various tools being stolen from inside. The victim stated that his work trailer had been parked in this location over the weekend and someone broke into it.

01/23/23-SMOAKS: Deputies met with the complainant at the LEC regarding a stolen vehicle. The vehicle is a black 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 was taken from Highway 61 near Springtown after the complainant left it on the side of the road when the vehicle suffered engine failure. The vehicle was taken some time between 01/22 at 5:30 p.m. through 01/23 at 10:00 a.m.

01/24/23-WALTERBORO: Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a green Dodge Challenger traveling 91 miles per hour on 95 Interstate traveling southbound. Due to the odor of marijuana a subsequent search was conducted. Deputies discovered two handguns inside the vehicle. A records check revealed that the driver is prohibited in the state of South Carolina and federally. The driver was arrested.

01/24/23-WALTERBORO: At approximately 1 p.m. officer responded to a caller’s house being shot.

01/24/23-ROUND O: An officer responded to Ace Basin Parkway in reference to a break-in to a motor vehicle.

01/24/23-ROUND O: At approximately 8 a.m. deputies were dispatched to Augusta Highway regarding a stolen vehicle. The vehicle is red in color 2002 Mazda 626 and was taken by an unknown suspect sometime overnight.

01/24/23-WALTERBORO: An officer was contacted by CCHS school staff regarding a male student having a weapon (firearm) pulled on him in the student parking lot during a verbal altercation

01/25/23-WALTERBORO: At approximately 9:15 p.m. officers responded to Green Pond Highway regarding a home invasion, burglary, and attempted murder.

01/26/23-WALTERBORO: At approximately 12:15 p.m. officer was stationed at CCMS and was notified by a teacher that a student possibly had a weapon (knife/cutting instrument) on school property.

01/27/23-RUFFIN: At approximately 12:18 p.m. deputies responded to Lowcountry Highway regarding a stolen vehicle.

01/29/23-RUFFIN: At approximately 7:48 a.m. officer responded to Armi Lane regarding a stolen dirt bike.

Walterboro Police Department Reports:

01/22/23-BELLS HIGHWAY (ENMARKET): Larceny of a bike. The officer contacted the complainant via telephone in reference to a stolen bicycle.

01/22/23-BELLS HIGHWAY: Leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Officers were dispatched to the Enmarket station, in reference to a leaving-the-scene incident. Officers contacted the complainant who related that a white f150 struck her blue Acura causing damage and left the scene without providing any paperwork or advising that the vehicle had been struck.

01/24/23-ROBERTSON BLVD: Petit larceny under $2,000. Officers were dispatched to Walterboro Christian Center in reference to a stolen utility trailer. Officers did contact the victim who stated that his 5x7 trailer was there the night before.

01/24/23-MEADOW @ STATE STREET: Leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury. Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Meadow and State Street, in reference to a vehicle striking a pedestrian. While enroute, officers were advised by dispatch that the vehicle was a silver in color Mitsubishi Outlander that had fled toward Green Pond Highway. After attempting to locate the vehicle, officers contacted the victim, who stated while at the stop sign of Meadow and State St, he was struck by the offender’s vehicle on the left leg.

01/24/23-ROBERTSON BLVD @ NORTH JEFFERIES: POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA. While working a vehicle collision officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from one of the vehicles involved. A probable cause search of the vehicle did produce 6.35 grams of green plant-like material. The material was seized and placed into evidence for destruction

01/27/23-BELLS HWY. @ MT. CARMEL: Possession of drug paraphernalia. While patrolling officer conducted a traffic stop on a white in color Honda for failing to maintain its lane on multiple occasions. During the traffic stop, two open containers and a grinder used for suspected marijuana were in the vehicle. The driver was cited for open container, careless driving, and drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
