The Colleton County Cougar Wrestling team participated in a tri-match at Cross High School that included Academic Magnet School on Tuesday, January 4. The Cougars fell 66-6 against Cross and 42-12 versus Academic Magnet.
“We wrestled Cross High School first,” said Coach Jaques Glover. “We were only able to fill three weight classes (113, 220, 285) due to a shortage of bodies. Lashombre Johnson wrestled in weight class 113, Avril Portal in 220 and Demar Bodison in 285. Portal came out victorious with a pin in 1:38. Johnson lost 11-2 after a hard-fought match and Bodison lost to a pin within the first period. Against Academic magnet, both Avril and Demar ended up with forfeits, making the final score 42-12.
Colleton County is scheduled for a Region VII-AAAA tri-match on Wednesday, January 12 May River High School and Hilton Head High School. They will then travel to Academic Magnet on Friday, January 14 for a contest that includes Military Magnet and Burke High School.
