Coastal Spraying could impact Bees

Posted

Ben Powell of Clemson University announced that this week, mosquito sprayers will be spraying in the SC Coastal Areas. These applicators are independent sprayers that do not have the Clemson database for beekeepers’ listings. Ben suggests that you contact the applicators directly. Powell added that the pesticide will be sprayed two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset. The spray will affect bees outside of the forging colonies but would not affect the colonies inside. It is advised to close the colonies during spraying times. Contact your local sprayers from the listed link. https://www.scmca.net/assets/docs/MosquitoControlProgramsInSC.pdf
