Surrounded by her attorney and colleagues from the clerk’s office, Mrs. Becky Hill publicly resigned from her office as Colleton County Clerk of Court. Justin Bamberg, Mrs. Hill’s attorney, told those gathered that the resignation was in no way related to the ongoing SLED investigation against Hill. In her speech, Hill outlined the offerings the courthouse currently offers its citizens and praised how the Murdaugh trial was handled by courthouse personnel. She commented that after much reflection that she has decided not to run for reelection and will able to “focus on being a wife, a mother, and grandmother to my two grand boys and will be spending time with the people who mean the most to me.” She continued on to thank those who supported her and the “amazing staff” who work in the clerk’s office. She concluded her speech by announcing that her resignation was effective immediately.
