The 2023 Walterboro Band Classic will be held at Cougar Stadium on Saturday September 30, 2023. This is the 46th year Colleton County High School has hosted the marching band competition and the event is sponsored by the Band of Blue Booster Club. The band classic is one of the largest and longest running events of its kind In South Carolina.
Sixteen bands from four different classifications will be performing in this year’s classic we the first band, Clover High School starting at 12 noon. Clover will be followed by Stratford, Fort Dorchester, Latta, Hannah Pamplico and Bluffton High School. The second group of bands will include May River High School, Central, Hanahan, Cheraw, and Cane Bay High School. After a dinner break, the competition will conclude with Dreher High School, Sumter, Summerville and Effingham County High Schools. The Band of Blue will perform this year’s field show WONDERFULL. It will feature music composed by Walterboro’s very own Mr. Nick Infinger. Cliff Walker is writing the percussion book and Mr. Chris Moss is the drill designer. Jason Johnson will be the guard designer and choreographer. WONDERFULL. is an artistic production that that takes you on a journey through the musical evolution of Stevie Wonder. The Band of Blue will perform at 8:00 pm.
This year’s Judges include Larry Wells, Phil McIntyre, Joe Gulledge, Bill Young, Michael Foxworth, and Jason Johnson.
