Get to know #yourColletonFirefighter Rob Jennings on #firefighterfriday. Firefighter/Paramedic Jennings is assigned to the Station 7 Platoon on “B” shift. Here is more information about Firefighter/Paramedic Jennings:
Rob was born and raised in Chicago. In 2005, after graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He set off for MCRD San Diego for recruit school and then attended the School of Infantry. Post graduation, he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion 1st Marines Kilo Company 1st Platoon. He deployed three times to Iraq; once with his original unit, and once with the 31 MEU T.R.A.P. Team. The T.R.A.P. team was responsible for rescuing downed pilots and was part of a helicopter detachment assigned to a ship. Rob completed his third deployment with 1st Marine Division PSD. After his third deployment, he decided to leave the Corps and enrolled in college. He landed a job following graduation and began working with juvenile offenders; it was a job he enjoyed, but it was missing something. He wanted to get back into a career that was fast paced, thrilling, and prideful. He completed EMT school and was hired as an EMT in San Diego. Missing home, he moved back to the “Windy City” and worked for various EMS agencies before eventually enrolling in Paramedic school. Growing tired of the cold weather, Rob decided to move to an area with a warmer climate. He picked a spot on the map and decided on the Charleston area. He saw a job posting for Colleton County Fire-Rescue and applied. After being called in for an interview, he was offered a job and joined Colleton County Fire-Rescue in 2021. Since becoming employed with CCFR, he has finished fire school and has developed a deep passion for fire based EMS.
When Rob is not at work, he enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, and attending sporting events.
