Lawrence Wiggins, president of the Walterboro Soccer Club, recently announced the renaming of the Wildfire Service Award to the John Thomas Wildfire Service Award in recognition and honor of past president John Thomas.
“John Thomas spent a considerable amount of time keeping the Walterboro Soccer Club going, as we’ve all come to know and understand the struggles of running a non-profit,” said Wiggins. “John often accomplished a lot with a little and because of his dedication there was a foundation for us to continue his work, along with other past presidents and board members in serving our community.”
The first recipient of the John Thomas Wildfire Service Award was Lacy Pulis, who was recognized for outstanding leadership and dedication to the Walterboro Soccer Club.
“I am honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Pulis. “I am so blessed to be able to help grow our soccer club with such a great group of volunteers.”
