Woman hurt in Hwy. 61 wreck

An adult woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries in a two-vehicle wreck on Augusta Highway (S.C. Hwy. 61) at the intersection of Drain Road Tuesday evening Nov. 17 at 6:29 p.m.
Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction, when the small Mercedes sedan collided with the rear of the semi-truck. On arrival, the first unit requested a second Fire-Rescue ambulance and began treating the patients.
The male truck driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Colleton Medical Center.
The woman patient was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston by ambulance. Augusta Highway was blocked for an hour until the vehicles could be removed.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
