Woman falls from deer stand

An adult female received multiple traumatic injuries after falling approximately 15 feet from a deer stand Saturday afternoon Nov. 26 at 5:52 p.m.

The woman was found on the ground about 1/4 mile into the woods in the 1900 block of Pine Grove Road.

Firefighter-paramedics treated the woman and immobilized her at the scene. Crews carried her out of the woods to a waiting ambulance. A medical helicopter was requested. CARE Flight landed in a field near Hudson Mill Crossroads. The patient was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.

A second woman was also injured after a side-by-side she was in overturned while enroute to the first injured woman. She received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 1.

SCDNR is investigating the incident.
