An Islandton woman received multiple and critical injuries on Saturday, Oct. 16th when she fell from a deer stand in rural Colleton County.

The unidentified woman fell approximately 20 feet from a deer stand, landing on the ground below. The incident occurred about .5-miles into a patch of woods located off of the 200-block of Moselle Road in Islandton. Firefighter-paramedics who were called to the scene had to first access the patient from a small dirt road on the property. Then, once the woman was treated and secured, she was transported out of the woods. A CARE Flight medical helicopter was called: that helicopter landed in a public recreational baseball field in the Islandton community.

From there, the woman was flown to a trauma center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, according to Barry McRoy, director of Colleton County Fire-Rescue.
