Williams mayor, council election July 14

The general election for the Town of Williams will be held Tuesday July 14.

This election was rescheduled from the previous date of April 14, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The election will select a mayor and four (4) town council members for two (2) year terms. The election will take place from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 2008 Risher Rd., Williams, in accordance with the statutes of the State of South Carolina and ordinances of the Town of Williams governing elections.

This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.

Only persons who live within the city limits and were registered to vote prior to the deadline of June 14 will be eligible to vote in this election.

This election will be held under the rules for providing photo ID at the polling place. Voters will be asked to provide one of the following photo IDs at their polling place:

• S.C. driver’s license

• ID card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles

• S.C. voter registration card with photo

• Federal military ID

• U.S. passport

The Colleton County Board of Voter Registration and Elections will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes after 9 a.m. at the voter registration office in Walterboro on election day.

On Thursday July 16 at 11 a.m., the County Board of Canvassers will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional ballots cast in this election at the voter registration office.
