Mr. William Betts Ehney, III, 50, of Islandton, entered into eternal rest Wednesday afternoon, April 7, 2021 at his residence.

Born August 12, 1970 in Hampton County and was the son of William Betts Ehney, Jr. and Carolyn Polk Ehney. He graduated from Ruffin High School, where he played football.  Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He especially liked fishing in the local swamps and enjoyed taking his sister fishing and spending time together.  He was an avid Carolina Football fan and loved all sports.  Most of all, Bill was kind, caring and generous to everyone, loved his family dearly and especially loved his nephews and spending time with them.

Surviving are: his parents, Bill and Carolyn Ehney of Islandton; sister and brother-in-law that he loved as a brother, Kathy and Tony Smyly of Ruffin; nephews, T.J. Smyly, William English Smyly and his wife Elizabeth, Bryce Smyly, Tanner Smyly and Joe Lasher; great niece, June Lasher; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kim Lasher and her husband Joey.

Funeral services were held 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, April 11, 2021, at Cross Swamp Methodist Church, Islandton. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The family would especially like to thank Dr. John Creel of Walterboro and the staff of Hollings Cancer Center for the wonderful care they gave to Bill.
