Wiggins inducted into Beaufort Episcopal Hall of Fame

Clarence Wiggins was recently inducted into the Beaufort District Sons of Allen Hall of Fame for 2021.

A Colleton resident, Wiggins was inducted during the Beaufort Seventh Episcopal District of the AME Church Convocation in Florence, S.C.

Wiggins served as a Sons of Allen member for more than 15 years in the Greater Mt. Olive AME Church in Smoaks. He is currently the president of the Beaufort District sons of Allen Chapter.

Known for his selfless devotion in refurbishing Joshua AME Church in Green Pond and Ebenezer AME Church in Point South, he has also worked with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Walterboro and Springtown UM Church in Smoaks food banks. He is president of the Johnsville/Smoaks Crime Watch, president of the Linder-Stephens-Hiers Family Reunion Chapter and president of the Wiggins-Simpson-Berry Family Reunion Chapter for S.C.

At Mt. Olive in Smoaks, Wiggins served on the Steward Board and Finance Committee, as chairman of the Covid-19 Committee, as a male chorus member, and delegate to the Beaufort District Annual Conference.

Wiggins worked at Manning Correctional in Columbia for several years before transferring to Estill Federal Correctional where he retired after 34 years.
