A 28-year-old man died from gunshot wounds on Sunday night in the White Hall community – the same property where a 1-year-old child was shot in 2019 and where at least three adults were also shot in 2020.

In this most recent shooting, the 28-year-old victim – Charlie Martin, of Colleton County – was shot at a house, located at 1748 White Hall Road in rural Colleton County, near Hendersonville. Martin died from his gunshot wounds in the emergency room of Colleton Medical Center, said Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey.

An arrest has been made in this shooting: Tevin Jerome Manigo, 28, has been charged with murder, according to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office. According to information provided on Monday by the sheriff’s office, deputies were first called to the residence for a fight in progress. Manigo was arrested at a local residence.

According to Colleton County Fire-Rescue Chief Barry McRoy, initial 911-calls made to the county’s emergency dispatch center did not specify how many people had been shot or injured. Because of this, two ambulances were dispatched to the scene. While en route, however, fire-rescue units were flagged down by a vehicle, located in the 6000 block of Hendersonville Highway, near Hendersonville Elementary School. The victim was found inside the vehicle.

“He was critically injured with diminished respirations,” said McRoy. The victim was transported to Colleton Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. In August of 2019, on this same property, a 1-year-old child was also shot. This is the also the same location where three people were shot – two of whom who died – in an April 2020 shooting.

According to information provided by the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, there are two houses located on the property. These three separate shootings have all occurred in that area. This is the second shooting that has occurred in Colleton County within one week. The other shooting occurred at a local nightclub. (See details of the second, unrelated shooting inside this issue). According to Shalane Lowes, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, there is no current evidence connecting this shooting to the fatal nightclub shooting.
