What Joy When God Delivers!

Posted

Have you ever prayed, praised, and waited on God for a blessing or a miracle for a long time, and it seemed as if He were not going to deliver? Did you reach a point of wanting to give up? Psalm 126:1-2 (ESV) declares, “When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’” The people celebrated God’s amazing work when it finally came about. “The mercy was so unexpected, so amazing, so singular that they could not do less than laugh; and they laughed much, so that their mouths were full of it, and that because their hearts were full too” (Charles Spurgeon). They dreamed about God’s deliverance, but when God finally did so, it was not what they had dreamed, but much more than they could have ever imagined. Likewise with us today, when we are waiting on God to bring us through, what joy floods our souls when He finally delivers!

One thing we all have to realize, and that is, we must trust God and believe that He will deliver on His promises. While we are waiting on Him to deliver, He wants to know if we truly believe in Him. Last week, one of my dear close family members was expecting a particular outcome of a situation that we all had been praying for about a year now. The outcome was not as we had expected, but God… He told me that he mustered enough energy after the letdown to attend church today, and one of the speaker’s main points was, “If God did it before, He will do it again.” It was just what he needed to hear. Glory to God!

While we are praying, praising, and waiting on God to deliver, the enemy tends to play all kinds of tricks on our minds, even going as far as trying to get us to stop believing. Satan is envious of God and His relationships with His people, so when this “author” of lies, chaos, confusion, and destroyer of your goals and dreams knocks at your door (heart), kindly ask Jesus, “Will you answer that for me, please?” In this chaotic world in which we live now, we cannot afford to let Satan steal our joy because he didn’t give it to us. God gave it, and the world can’t take it away!

Always abound in the faith, and never leave home without Him!
