The Colleton Prep War Hawks improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in Region I-A after a 38-0 win over Bethesda Academy on Friday, October 1 on the road. The game went into halftime scoreless, but Colleton Prep exploded offensively in the third quarter, putting 24 points on the board. They would add two touchdowns in the fourth quarter while holding Bethesda scoreless.

Senior quarterback, Drew Murdaugh had a stellar night for Colleton Prep, with 19 carries for 129 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Murdaugh recorded 92 passing yards and threw one touchdown.

Cole Davis rushed for 54 yards and had three receptions for 92 yards with one touchdown.

On defense, Noah Catterton recorded eight tackles and two sacks for Colleton Prep.

Warhawk Gus Warren had seven tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Cole Davis had five tackles and a sack, while Walker Nettles had six tackles.

“I thought our defense played exceptionally well Friday evening,” said CPA Head Football Coach Greg Langdale. “They were able to shut out a very good team in Bethesda. We did an excellent job of stopping the run and our secondary was able to make plays when they had too. We did a great job of flying to the football Friday evening.”

“Offensively, I thought we did a good job of executing our game plan in the first half,” said Langdale. “We knew we needed to control the clock and we were able to do that with some long drives. Unfortunately, we were unable to come up with any points in the first half, but we were able to control the clock and wear them down a little by halftime.”

“The game changing play was obviously the scoop and score by Gus Warren on Bethesda‘s first drive in the second half,” said Langdale. “That play gave us a lot of momentum, which we were able to take advantage of for the rest of the game. After that score, we were able to quickly get the ball back twice and our offense was able to get on track and start scoring some points.”

“Hopefully, this is the type of win that our team can build on,” said Langdale. “We have some very important games coming up, so hopefully we can keep the momentum going.”

Colleton Prep will host Thomas Heyward on Friday, October 8 for Homecoming. The Rebels (5-1) are coming off a 46-6 win last week over John Paul II.
