The Colleton Prep War Hawk Baseball team fell 7-6 against John Paul II heading into Spring Break. Earlier in April, Colleton Prep defeated Thomas Heyward 13-8 on the road. Currently Colleton Prep is 4-9 overall and 2-5 in Region IV-AA.

The War Hawks fought back after falling down by four runs in the sixth inning against John Paul II Thursday April 14 on the road. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to John Paul II. Will Cain took the loss for Colleton Prep, allowing eight hits and five runs over five innings, walking none.

Thomas Mcmillan led the War Hawks at the plate, going 2-3 on the day. Colton Daniels and Cole Davis both recorded a hit.

Garrett Heathcott was credited with the victory for John Paul II, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out eight across seven innings of work. Bryant Jolley and Caleb Snyder recorded multiple hits for John Paul II.

“We did not perform our best in the loss to John Paul,” said Coach Joshua Craven. “It was one of those situations where we got caught looking forward to Spring Break and were unprepared mentally to play baseball. We did not come to play, and John Paul did, so now we have dug ourselves a hole regarding the playoffs. Now, it is about coming out of spring break and getting back to work. We have three big region games this week against Beaufort (DH) and Hilton Head Christian to put us to the test. We need to win out and hope we get help to find our way to the playoffs.“

Colleton Prep has three regular season games remaining. They were scheduled to face Beaufort Academy on Tuesday, April 26 in double header and will honor their seniors in a pre-game ceremony. They will complete their regular season on Thursday, April 28 at home versus Hilton Head Christian.
