The Colleton Prep varsity boys basketball team opened the 2021-22 season with double losses against Patrick Henry Academy and Andrew Jackson Academy.

In on-the-road play against Patrick Henry Academy on Monday, November 22, the War Hawks dropped the season opener 70-25. Braeden Hiers led with 14 points. Colton Daniels added 6 points. Other scoring included Jeb Crews (2), Wes Brown (2) and Walker Nettles (1).

The following evening the War Hawks hosted Andrew Jackson, losing 79-39.

"The team has been working hard during the preseason,” said Head Coach Bogie Boggess. “We have primarily been emphasizing skill development and basketball IQ. This is a great group of players who have embraced the challenges of learning a new system and are enthusiastic about laying the foundation for a new basketball culture at Colleton Prep Academy.

“As a first-year coach in SCISA, our conference, opponents, and level of talent are all unfamiliar to me,” said Boggess. “I am fortunate to have a solid assistant coach in Tyler Davis who has played in SCISA and offers much valuable information in those areas.

“As for the team, we are a young and inexperienced team that lacks depth,” he said. “What makes them special is their willingness to learn and the ethic that they have shown daily. They are a very coachable team. It will take some time before we really begin to gel and understand our new style of play, but the players have embraced the change and continue to show patience and enthusiasm in their overall development. We will take it game by game and continue to learn and grow."

Colleton Prep was scheduled to host Dorchester Academy on Tuesday, November 30 before traveling to Jefferson Davis Academy on Friday, December 3.
