Walterboro women die in Charleston crash

Three Walterboro residents died in a Tuesday crash in Charleston County.

Stephania Dantzler, 53, Shanice Dantzler-Williams, 28, and Miranda Dantzler-Williams, 22, all from the Walterboro area, died as a result of a car crash that occurred at about 11 p.m. on Monday, May 9th on Savannah Highway, near the Hollywood community in Charleston.

The victims were identified by the Charleston County Coroner on May 9th.

The three women were involved in the crash that also involved a Charleston County deputy. According to reports given to media outlets from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was en route to help a stranded motorist alongside Savannah Highway when the deputy’s patrol car collided with the victims’ vehicle.

The Colleton County women died as a result of the crash.

The deputy was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) with non-life threatening injuries, according to information provided by the sheriff’s office.

The deputy, who is identified as Emily Pelletier, has since been released from the hospital. She is on administrative leave with pay while the crash is investigated.
