A Colleton woman died in a car crash that occurred near Cottageville in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 26th.
Danna Deal, 32, of Walterboro, died in the crash, according to Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey.
According to Harvey, an autopsy is scheduled.
The crash occurred at about 3:15 a.m. in the 7300-block of Jacksonboro Road, south of Cottageville.
According to Master Trooper David Jones with the S.C. Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2010 Ford Focus when the car went off the roadway and struck several trees. The car then overturned, he said. Local officials with Colleton County Fire-Rescue responded to the crash site. According to Barry McRoy, chief of Colleton County Fire-Rescue, the vehicle struck two large trees. The unrestrained woman suffered multiple injuries, he said.
The crash is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
